Often times as believers we see being baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit as the ultimate goal for salvation. While this is true; enduring until the end is equally as important, here’s why!
The sentiment that many have today is that Satan flees from you once you receive the Holy Spirit. This sounds good in theory but the Bible tells a different story.
We see in Matthew 4 Yeshua being tempted by Satan with all the kingdoms of the world after he received the Holy Spirit. In Hebrews 4:15-16 we see that he was tempted on “all points”.
“All points” is the Greek word “pas” and it means: in all things, in every way.
Peter received the Holy Spirit in the upper room yet was confronted by Paul in Galatians 2 for turning his back on the gentile believers and in Acts 10 the messiah corrects Peter for this error.
We see through King David that just as quickly as you receive the Holy Spirit, it can be taken away, if you continue in wickedness.
”Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with thy free spirit.“
Psalm 51:10-12 KJV
So receiving the Holy Spirit doesn’t give us a get out of temptation free card, it’s Biblical proof that Satan will get worse.
The prophet Daniel says this about the fourth beast.
”And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.“
Daniel 7:25 KJV
The prophet John says this about the dragon.
”And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.“
Revelation 12:17 KJV
If his mission is to wear out and make war with the saints, we need stamina to endure. So how do we do it?
Here is your endurance!
”Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.“
Revelation 14:12 KJV
“Patience” here is the word “hypomone”, when used in this context it means: Endurance, Steadfastness, consistency, perseverance.
I leave you with a word from the Messiah that sparked this post. While speaking on time events he says this midway:
”But the one who endures to the end will be saved.“
Matthew 24:13 TLV
”This Good News of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.“
Matthew 24:14 TLV
Are you being taught to endure?
Shalom.
